I quit my job as an Event Curator in December 2019 and started work as a part time FnB consultant until the lockdown hit us in March 2020.

During these trying times of attempted work from home, laundry and general housecleaning, I noticed a pattern of daily self-induced struggles and frustrations. I came up with the term “Struggle Butt” after hanging the 4th batch of laundry for the day, utterly exhausted and fed up with the never ending house chores. 

I define a Struggle Butt, as a person who creates struggles out of nothing.  From there it became a household catchphrase, Hey, Struggle Butt! 

Food is my passion and has been my career for the last couple of years.  I was looking to make something unique and niche that would highlight my product and my unique brand name. So that is how project Struggle Butt evolved.  

After watching Korean mukbangers eat kimchi with their meals, starting off with a test batch of kimchi using authentic Korean ingredients seemed like good starting point. Also the fact that no one else was really making it as it's quite labour intensive encouraged me to try it out. From there I also noticed no one was doing a vegetarian Kimchi so I decided to make that as well to fill the gap in the vegetarian space. After the first batch was a huge success, I decided to make Struggle Butt kimchi and condiments. Besides kimchi, I created a menu of 2 more products and then from there my menu expanded.

Struggle Butt’s range of condiments and sauces is created to take your struggles out of the kitchen.
